COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The Benedict College Lady Tigers swept St. Augustine's in a non-conference softball doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Tiger Field.

The Lady Tigers outmatched St. Augustine's, as they jumped out to an early lead in both games to easily win both, 16-1 and 19-1. Benedict improves to 9-14. St. Augustine's falls to 2-6.

In the first game, Benedict scored first on a sacrifice fly by
Deyonce Lewis to score
Taylor McNeal in the first inning. Benedict erupted for eight runs in the second inning.
T'yannah Lake drove in two runs with a double, and
Tanijah Washington had a RBI single. The Lady Tigers added six runs in the third inning, as
Tre'sor Eady drove in two runs on a single and Washington had a two-run double.
Chesney Miller would score the last of Benedict's runs by stealing home.

In the second game, the Lady Tigers would put up 12 of their 19 runs in the first inning.
Daneshia Wooten went 3-for-5 and drove in five runs and stole five bases. Miller drove in three runs on two hits.
Ericka Young,
Si'Nyah Douglas and Lewis all had two RBIs.
Kierra Evans was the winning pitcher, giving up just three hits and struck out five.

Benedict will be back Saturday afternoon to start a three-game series against crosstown rival Allen. Saturday's 1 p.m. doubleheader will be played at Tiger Field.
