COLUMBIA, S.C. – Spring Hill College swept the Benedict College baseball team in a SIAC doubleheader on Saturday at Tiger Field.
The Badgers won the first game 19-3, and took the second game 17-4. Spring Hill moves to 26-18 overall and 24-4 in the SIAC. Benedict falls to 13-18 overall and 8-16 in the SIAC.
Taj Bates went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the first game, hitting a two-run double and a solo home run.
Jamell Mitchell Jr. and
Isaiah Canty added two hits each.
William Martinez and
Justin Murray had two hits each in the second game.
Spring Hill scored 17 runs in the second game on just seven hits, as four Benedict pitchers combined to issue 17 walks.
Benedict and Spring Hill will wrap up their series on Sunday at 1 p.m. as the Tigers will celebrate Senior Day.
