Taylor McNeal drove home Benedict's only run, but Benedict was held to five hits and struck out 10 times as Edward Waters took a 3-1 victory on Thursday at Tiger Field.
Benedict College softball team completed their series with Edward Waters that was postponed due to rain on April 1 to wrap up SIAC play.
Edward Waters scored two runs in the second inning on a single, walk and a two-run double. Edward Waters added an unearned run in the fifth inning for a 3-0 lead.
Benedict scored its only run in the seventh inning.
Ericka Young had a double, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by
Taylor Wilson and scored on a single by
Taylor McNeal.
McNeal would lead the Tigers with two hits, two stolen bases and an RBI.
The Lady Tigers, now 20-26 overall and 10-12 in the SIAC, will wait for the official announcement on selections for the SIAC Tournament next week Tuesday through Thursday at Albany State University. Benedict finished in a three-way tie for third place in the SIAC East Division, and the top four teams from the East Division will advance to the SIAC Tournament.
