ATLANTA, Ga. – Clark Atlanta upset the eighth-ranked Benedict College Tigers 88-84 in overtime on Saturday, handing the Tigers their first loss of the season.
The Tigers trailed by as many as 11 points in the second half, but
Asanti Price hit a jumper with eight seconds remaining to tie the score. Clark Atlanta missed a final shot, sending the contest into overtime.
In overtime, the Tigers missed all nine field goal attempts, scoring two points on single free throws by Price and
Gob Gabriel. The Panthers made two of five shot attempts in the extra period, including a 3-pointer to open the overtime period.
Benedict falls to 13-1 overall and 7-1 in the SIAC. Clark Atlanta improves to 10-3 overall and 4-3 in the SIAC.
Five Tigers reached double figures, with
Brandon Beidleman scoring a season-high 18 points.
Tim Moore scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double. Price scored 15 points,
Calvin McCutcheon added 14 points and
Malachi McCoy chipped in 11 points.
The Tigers shot a season-low 29.5 percent (23-of-78) from the floor, including just 8-of-34 (23.5 percent) from 3-point range.
Benedict is back in action with a road trip back to Atlanta on Thursday to take on Morehouse at 7 p.m.
