COLUMBIA, S.C. – The 15
th-ranked Benedict College Tigers connected on a season-high 18 3-pointers and cruised to a 97-74 victory over Edward Waters College in a SIAC men's basketball contest on Monday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Gob Gabriel scored a season-high 21 points, drilling 6-of-7 from long range.
Tim Moore added 20 points.
Asanti Price sank four 3-pointers and scored 16 points.
Malachi McCoy chipped in 10 points.
Benedict improves to 16-2 overall and 10-2 in the SIAC. Edward Waters falls to 8-12 overall and 7-6 in the SIAC.
Edward Waters scored a 3-pointer to open the game, but Benedict quickly jumped out to a 17-6 lead. Edward Waters got as close as six points, 19-13, but the hot-shooting Benedict Tigers soared to a 57-30 lead at the halftime break. Benedict never led by less than 22 points in the second half, and had as much as a 31-point lead, 73-42, after a 3-point play by McCoy.
Benedict wraps up its long home stand with a contest against Savannah State on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
