TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Tuskegee used a 17-4 run to close out the third quarter to take a double-digit lead and went on to take a 73-52 victory over Benedict College in a SIAC women's basketball contest on Saturday.
The Lady Tigers had a 35-32 lead with 6:29 left in the third quarter after a jumper by
Raven Johnson. Tuskegee scored the next six points to take the lead and never trailed again. Tuskegee scored the final four points of the third quarter to take a 49-39 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Benedict cut the lead to 55-46 after a 3-pointer by
Taylor Christmas with 7:18 left in the game, but that is as close as the Lady Tigers would get. Benedict scored just one free throw over the final 4:35 of the game.
Christmas led the Lady Tigers with 18 points.
Benedict falls to 2-10 overall and 1-6 in the SIAC. Tuskegee improves to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the SIAC.
The Lady Tigers play at Claflin on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
