ATLANTA, Ga. – The Benedict women's volleyball team fell to Clark Atlanta, 3-1, in SIAC action on Tuesday night.
Clark Atlanta won the match 21-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-17. Benedict falls to 11-7 overall and 7-6 in the SIAC. Clark Atlanta improves to 9-9 overall and 7-4 in the SIAC.
Benedict won the first set, but dropped the next three sets. Clark Atlanta had a 20-19 lead in the first set, but Benedict won the next four points to take the lead. After a Clark Atlanta point made it 23-21, Benedict closed out the set with a kill by
T'yannah Lake and a Clark Atlanta attack error.
Clark Atlanta used a 7-0 run in the second set to pull away from a close score. In the third set, the score was tied at 19 before Clark Atlanta scored the next three points. The Lady Tigers scored the next two points to cut the lead to 22-21, but Clark Atlanta closed out the set by scoring three of the final four points. Benedict had a 15-12 lead in the fourth set, but Clark Atlanta scored 13 of the next 15 points to seal the victory.
Desire' Young led the Lady Tigers with 10 kills and five blocks.
Benedict plays at Allen on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. match.
