COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College women's volleyball team dropped its first home match of the season, as Albany State took a 3-0 SIAC victory on Friday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Albany State rallied from a 16-6 deficit in the first set to take a 25-22 victory, and used that momentum to win the second set 25-17. The Lady Tigers scored the first six points of the third set, but the Golden Rams rallied once again to take a 15-10 lead. Benedict surged to take a 17-16 lead, but Albany State scored the final four points for a 25-20 win and finish the sweep.
Benedict falls to 7-4 overall and 3-3 in the SIAC. Albany State moves to 6-4 overall and 4-1 in the SIAC.
The Lady Tigers struggled at the net, hitting just .088, recording 32 kills and committing 23 errors on 102 attacks.
Desire' Young led the Lady Tigers with 11 kills and hit .474.
Willow Alls recorded 16 assists.
La'Jai Wilson had a team-high nine digs.
Benedict returns to action with a Saturday morning 10:30 a.m. match against Fort Valley State in the HRC Arena.
