JACKSON, Tenn. – The Benedict College women's basketball team had a 12-point third quarter lead, but Lane College rallied to take a 70-61 victory in their SIAC opener on Saturday.
 
The Lady Tigers had a 38-28 lead at the half. A jumper by 
Taylor Christmas gave Benedict a 42-30 lead early in the third quarter. Lane then scored the next 15 unanswered points to take their first lead since early in the first quarter. The Lady Dragons held a 50-47 lead going into the fourth quarter. Lane scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter for a 57-47 lead, and the Lady Tigers never got the lead below nine points the rest of the way.
 
Christmas led Benedict with 15 points and nine rebounds. 
Alaysia Nash scored 16 points off the bench, and 
Ciara Hardy added 12 points.
 
Benedict continues its Tennessee road trip with a game against LeMoyne-Owen College on Monday night.
