MEMPHIS, Tenn. –
Alaysia Nash scored a layup with four seconds left to lift the Benedict College women's basketball team to a 62-61 victory over LeMoyne-Owen College on Monday night in a SIAC contest.
Benedict, now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the SIAC, trailed 55-49 with 5:32 left in the game. The Lady Tigers tied the game at 55-55 after a jumper by
Kaya Evans. The Lady Magicians (1-7 overall, 0-2 SIAC) retook the lead on a jumper before Nash hit a 3-pointer to give Benedict a 58-57 lead with 2:48 remaining. The two teams traded baskets in the final minute, with Nash scoring the game-winner.
Taylor Christmas led Benedict with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Ciara Hardy added 12 points and Nash chipped in 10 points.
Benedict will return home to face Fayetteville State on Dec. 11 at 5:30 p.m.
