Lady Tigers Go 4-4 At SIAC Tennis Roundup

MOBILE, Ala. – The Benedict College women's tennis team went 4-4 at the SIAC Tennis Roundup in Mobile, Ala.
 
The Lady Tigers opened the roundup with a 7-0 victory over Edward Waters. Benedict then dropped matches to Savannah State (5-2), Spring Hill (4-1), and Albany State (4-0) before taking victories over Fort Valley State (6-1) and Lane (6-1). Benedict fell to Tuskegee (4-0), before wrapping up the roundup with a 5-1 victory over LeMoyne-Owen.
 
Valerie Essome went 6-0 for the Lady Tigers at No. 1 singles. She went 4-4 at No. 1 doubles with partner Emi Smith. Patricia Wamba went 3-2 at No. 2 singles. She went 5-2 at No. 2 doubles with partner Tanatswa Musabaeka.
 
Musabaeka went 5-0 in singles action at No. 3.
 
Smith went 4-3 in singles action, playing between No. 4 and No. 5. Kennedy Vincent also split time between No. 4 and No. 5 singles, going 4-4.
 
The Lady Tigers, now 5-5 overall on the season and 4-4 in the SIAC, return to action on Thursday, Feb. 22, with a home match against Clark Atlanta, starting at 2 p.m. at the Columbia Tennis Center.
