COLUMBIA, S.C – Allen University outscored Benedict 10-3 in overtime to take a 71-64 victory in a SIAC women's basketball contest on Saturday at Allen's John Hurst Adams Gymnasium.
A three-point play by
Ghylissa Knowles gave Benedict a 61-59 lead with 2:01 left in regulation. Allen tied the game and forced overtime with a jumper with 21 seconds left.
In overtime, the Lady Tigers scored first, as
Taylor Christmas scored on a short jumper. The Yellow Jackets scored the next 10 points as Benedict missed their next four shots and turned the ball over three times.
Shakera Duncan led Benedict with 18 points, while Christmas added 14 points.
The Lady Tigers fall to 3-22 overall and 1-17 in the SIAC as they saw their losing streak extended to 10 games. Allen improves to 10-13 overall and 6-10 in the SIAC.
Benedict will wrap up the regular season on Feb. 26 with a home contest against Clark Atlanta, starting at 5:30 p.m.
