AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Benedict College men's tennis team opened the 2024 season on Friday, falling to Augusta University, 7-0.
 
Jason Chigaazira put up a close battle with Augusta's Perez Quentin Cano at No. 3 singles. He won the first set 7-5, before dropping the second set 6-2. In the tiebreaker, Cano took a tough 11-9 victory.
 
Jason and brother Mark Chigaazira came up short at No. 1 doubles, falling 7-6 to Augusta's top team of Enzo Garutti and David Perret.
 
Benedict, now 0-1 on the season, will travel to Mobile, Ala., to compete in the first SIAC roundup Feb. 8-11.
