COLUMBIA, S.C. – Albany State scored 14 runs in the first inning of the first game and held Benedict to two hits in the second game to sweep a softball doubleheader on Saturday at Tiger Field in their SIAC opener.
Albany State sent 20 batters to the plate in the first inning, scoring 14 runs on 11 hits and one Benedict error.
The Lady Tigers got their only runs in the bottom of the first, as
Shamaria Dupree led off with an infield single, and
T'yannah Lake followed with a homer to center field.
Benedict (0-10 overall, 0-2 in the SIAC) and Albany State (11-5, 2-0 SIAC) will play the third game in their conference series on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
