COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College baseball team scored six runs in the third inning to take the lead and went on to take a 13-8 victory over Tuskegee in the third game of the SIAC series on Monday afternoon at Tiger Field.
Benedict had a season-high 15 hits and the 13 runs was also a season high.
Taj Bates had an RBI single for the go-ahead run, and
Jose Gil drove home three runs with a bases-loaded double.
Frankey Moree added a three-run homer to left field in the fourth inning to give the Tigers an 11-3 lead.
Justin Murray went 3-for-5 and drove home two runs.
Jacob Hall went 2-for-4 and drove home a run, while
Malcolm Bates went 2-for-2 with an RBI and
Jayden Jones went 2-for-4.
Carson Fellows picked up the win on the mound, going six innings, allowing five hits and four runs, while striking out seven and walking four.
Benedict returns to action with a non-conference home doubleheader against Lincoln on Thursday. The first game starts at noon.
