SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State outscored Benedict 18-5 to end the second quarter to take the lead and went on to take a 79-62 victory over the Lady Tigers in a SIAC women's basketball game on Saturday.
Benedict lost to Savannah State for the second game in a row and falls to 3-18 overall and 1-13 in the SIAC. Savannah State improves to 14-4 overall and 11-3 in the SIAC.
Benedict had a 29-24 lead with 7:02 left in the second quarter after a 3-pointer by
Kaya Evans. Savannah State took the lead with a 7-0 run. Savannah State closed out the second quarter with the final eight points of the half for a 42-34 lead at the break.
Savannah State scored the final seven points of the third quarter to take a 66-50 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Benedict never got the lead below 15 points in the final quarter.
Aaliyah Lawrence led Benedict with 14 points, while
Alaysia Nash added 12 points and Evans chipped in 11 points.
Benedict travels to take on Edward Waters at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
