JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Benedict College women's basketball team dropped their seventh straight game, falling to Edward Waters 71-60 on Monday night in a SIAC contest.
Benedict led 5-2 in the first minute of the game, but Edward Waters scored the next nine points for an 11-5 lead and never trailed again. Edward Waters had an 18-11 lead at the end of the first quarter, and had a 37-29 lead at the half.
Benedict scored the first four points of the third quarter to cut the lead to 37-33. Edward Waters scored the next seven points for a double-digit lead and had a 56-42 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Edward Waters led by as many as 20 points early in the fourth quarter.
Amaya Ashby scored a season-high 17 points, matching her career high, to lead Benedict.
Taylor Christmas had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Benedict, now 3-19 overall and 1-14 in the SIAC, plays at Fort Valley State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
