JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The 11th-ranked Benedict College men's basketball team dropped their second game in a row, as Edward Waters took a 104-93 victory in a SIAC matchup on Monday night.
Edward Waters connected on an opponents' season-high 61.2 percent (41-of-67) from the floor and scored an opponent's season high to improve to 10-13 overall and 9-7 in the SIAC. Benedict falls to 17-4 overall and 11-4 in the SIAC.
Edward Waters pulled away from a close game midway through the second half. A jumper by Gob Gabriel made it 76-74, but Edward Waters scored the next 10 points. Benedict was able to cut the lead to 92-89 with 2:20 remaining after a jumper by Brandon Smith. Edward Waters made a three-point play, and Malachi McCoy followed with a jumper to make it 95-91 with 1:53 remaining. Edward Waters scored the next seven points for an 11-point lead with one minute to go.
McCoy had a double-double with a team-high 21 points and 10 rebounds. Tim Moore scored 20 points, and Smith added 17. Gabriel scored 14 points and Asanti Price added 13 points.
