HOOVER, Ala. – The Benedict College softball team opened the SIAC Crossover Tournament with two losses at the Hoover Met Complex.
In their first game, Lane held Benedict to one hit in a 6-0 victory. In their second game, Tuskegee scored five runs in the third inning, and the Lady Tigers were held to two hits as Tuskegee won 5-4.
Taylor Gilbert had Benedict's only hit against Lane, and the Lady Tigers committed five errors.
Against Tuskegee,
Shamaria Dupree had a two-run single in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to 5-2. Gilbert had a double in the sixth inning to score
T'yannah Lake and
Tre'sor Eady and cut the lead to 5-4. Benedict got the tying run on third base in the bottom of the seventh, but a groundout ended the game.
The Lady Tigers, now 2-15 overall and 0-5 in the SIAC, play Kentucky State and LeMoyne-Owen in Wednesday's action.
