FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Fort Valley State scored seven unanswered runs to take a 7-2 victory over Benedict in a SIAC softball game on Sunday and complete a three-game series sweep over the Lady Tigers.
Benedict jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Shamaria Dupree led off the game by reaching on an error.
T'yannah Lake drove home Dupree on a single. Lake scored on another FVSU error.
The Lady Wildcats scored one run in the bottom of the first inning, then tied the game with a run in the third inning. Fort Valley State took the lead with two runs in the fourth inning and added three more runs in the sixth inning.
Benedict, now 8-20 overall and 5-10 in the SIAC, plays at Paine next Saturday in a non-conference doubleheader.
