ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Football Players of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 17, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Kelvin Durham (Fort Valley State), Caleb Grant (Morehouse), Jose Chaires (Central State) and Charles "Tre" Simmons (Benedict) were recognized.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – CHARLES SIMMONS, BENEDICT COLLEGE

Charles "Tre" Simmons came off the bench to throw for 131 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown in Benedict's 32-27 loss to Lane College. Simmons was involved in all four of Benedict's touchdowns. He scored on a 73-yard run. He completed 10 of 18 passes with no interceptions and was sacked just once. Simmons is a transfer from McNeese State.
