COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Tigers, one of eight NCAA Division II football teams still undefeated, are now in both national polls.
The Tigers, 7-0 after a 31-27 victory over Edward Waters on Saturday, climbed three spots from 24
th to 21
st in the American Football Coaches Association Division II poll. Benedict also made its first appearance of the season in the D2football.com media poll, coming in at No. 23.
Benedict is the only member of the SIAC nationally ranked in either poll, and one of three HBCU teams nationally ranked in both polls.
In the AFCA poll, Benedict received 155 total points, jumping over Johnson C. Smith, which was 23
rd last week and moved up one spot to 22
nd in this week's poll.
The Tigers will put their national ranking on the line this Saturday when they host 6-1 Albany State, which received votes in the AFCA poll, at 2 p.m. in Charlie W. Johnson Stadium.
