COLUMBIA, S.C. – Edward Waters took a 3-0 victory over Benedict in a SIAC women's volleyball match on Saturday evening in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Edward Waters won the match 25-22, 25-15, 25-19 to improve to 7-12 overall and 7-7 in the SIAC. Benedict falls to 15-6 overall and 9-5 in the SIAC.
The Lady Tigers had just 30 kills in the match, led by
Desire' Young with seven kills. Edward Waters had 42 kills.
Willow Alls had 16 assists, while
La'Jai Wilson had a team-high eight digs.
In the first set, Benedict opened with the first three points. Edward Waters stormed back to take a 12-5 lead. Benedict chipped away at the lead and tied the score at 21-21 after a kill by
Angelic Carter. Edward Waters closed the set by scoring four of the next five points.
Edward Waters pulled away from a 16-11 lead in the second set to take a 22-12 lead and cruised to the 25-15 win. In the third set, Edward Waters pulled away from a 9-9 tie with four straight points, then later scored three points in a row to increase the lead to 18-12 and held on for the 25-19 victory.
Benedict will be back in action on Thursday with a road match at Savannah State.
