COLUMBIA, S.C. – Still the only remaining unbeaten Division II HBCU football team, the Benedict College Tigers remain third in the HBCU Division II Coaches Poll, powered by BOXTOROW.
But the Tigers, 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the SIAC, are closing the gap on the teams ahead of them in the poll. Virginia Union University remains in first place with 11 first-place votes and 159 total points. Albany State remains second with 146 total points, but received only one first-place vote.
Benedict is third with 145 total points. The Tigers received five first-place votes.
The Tigers are coming off a 38-28 victory over Allen on Saturday, scoring 17 points in the fourth quarter.
