COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Tigers dropped one spot to fourth in the most recent NCAA Division II Football Super Region Two rankings.
Newberry College, fresh off a 28-21 victory over Carson-Newman, who ranked eighth in last week's region rankings, moved up from fourth to third.
The top two spots remain unchanged, with West Florida (9-0 against D2 opponents and 7-0 against Super Region Two opponents) remains first, while Albany State (9-0 against D2 opponents and 9-0 against Super Region Two opponents) is second. Benedict will face Albany State this Saturday for the SIAC championship.
After Newberry and Benedict, Wingate remains fifth. UNC Pembroke moved from eighth a week ago to sixth. UNC Pembroke will play North Greenville this Saturday for the Conference Carolinas championship and an automatic berth into the NCAA championship.
Kentucky State dropped one spot to seventh. Delta State dropped from sixth to eight following their loss to Valdosta State. Emory & Henry and Carson-Newman round out the top 10.
Super Region Two is comprised of schools from the SIAC, Conference Carolinas, Gulf South Conference and South Atlantic Conference. The conference champions from each conference will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA championship, with four at-large selections.
Eight teams in the final region rankings will advance to the NCAA Division II playoffs, which begin Nov. 22. The first three rounds will be played on campus stadiums, with the national championship set for Dec. 20 in McKinney, Texas.
The official selection show will take place on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. on NCAA.com.
