COLUMBIA, S.C. –
Angelic Carter, returning to the lineup for the first time in two weeks, had a dominating performance with nine kills and four blocks as the Benedict College women's volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 3-0 victory over Clark Atlanta on Thursday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Benedict easily won the match 25-12, 25-10, 25-17 to close out the regular season at 18-9 overall and 11-8 in the SIAC. Clark Atlanta falls to 2-26 overall and 2-17 in the SIAC.
The Lady Tigers also celebrated Senior Day on Thursday, and honored senior libero
La'Jai Wilson and
Nyla Troncoso. Wilson had six digs, three assists and two service aces in her final home game. Troncoso had five kills.
Benedict hit .247 as a team, served up seven aces, had just one service error, and totaled eight blocks in the match.
Desire' Young added seven kills and a pair of blocks.
Jadyn Murry had 15 assists.
Benedict finishes the regular season in a tie for third place in the SIAC East with Savannah State. Benedict and Savannah State split their two head-to-head matches, forcing a tiebreaker. Savannah State would get the edge by going 1-1 against fifth-place Edward Waters, while Benedict lost both matches against Edward Waters.
The 2025 SIAC Women's Volleyball Championship presented by Toyota will be Nov. 20-22 at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala. Benedict is expected to face host Spring Hill, the top seed from the SIAC West Division. Spring Hill has won the last six conference championships.
