FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Benedict College men's basketball team remained undefeated on the young season with a 65-55 victory over Kentucky State on Saturday afternoon.
Benedict improves to 2-0 on the season and 2-0 in the SIAC. Kentucky State falls to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the SIAC.
Benedict shot 50.9 percent, while holding the Thorobreds to 31.7 percent shooting.
Kentucky State had as much as a six-point lead, 18-12, in the first half, but the Tigers rallied to take a 34-31 lead at the half. Benedict scored the first eight points in the second half for a 42-31 lead and built as much as a 15-point lead (53-38).
Landon Jeffries scored 15 points, while
Tareeq Anderson came off the bench to score another 15 points.
Malachi Chavis added 10 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
The Tigers will return to action with their home opener on Thursday, December 4, when they host LeMoyne-Owen College at 7:30 p.m.
