TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers held Tuskegee to just 20 percent shooting and held off a late rally to take a 46-43 victory in SIAC women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.
Benedict had an 11-point lead, 43-32, with 3:28 remaining in the game before Tuskegee closed out the game an 11-3 run. Tuskegee got within two points, 45-43, with 52 seconds left, but then missed a pair of free throws 18 seconds left. Benedict sealed the game with a free throw by
Gwendasia Page with one second left.
The Lady Tigers improved to 3-4 overall and 3-4 in the SIAC. Tuskegee falls to 4-4 overall and 4-2 in the SIAC.
Alaysia Nash led Benedict with nine points.
Benedict returns home for a pair of games before the holiday break. The Lady Tigers will take on Spring Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and then host Albany State on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
