COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers used a 15-2 run to open the fourth quarter to pull away from Spring Hill College and take a 61-43 victory in a SIAC women's basketball game on Wednesday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Benedict scored the final five points of the third quarter to take a 39-30 lead heading into the fourth quarter. After Spring Hill opened the quarter with a layup, the Lady Tigers reeled off 10 unanswered points. After Spring Hill scored off an offensive rebound, the Lady Tigers built the lead to 20 points, 54-34, with 5:11 left in the game.
Benedict improves to 4-4 overall and 4-4 in the SIAC. Spring Hill falls to 4-6 overall and 2-5 in the SIAC.
Freshman
Jonnae Bennett led the Lady Tigers with a career-high 18 points, draining four 3-pointers.
Aaliyah Lawrence added 13 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
The Lady Tigers forced 29 Spring Hill turnovers, converting them into 23 points.
Benedict wraps up their 2025 portion of the schedule on Friday, hosting Albany State at 5:30 p.m. before taking their holiday break.
