COLUMBIA, S.C. – Lane College scored the final 10 points of the second quarter to take a 13-point halftime lead and held on to take a 73-59 victory over the Benedict College Lady Tigers in a SIAC women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
 
Benedict falls to 2-3 overall and 2-3 in the SIAC. Lane improves to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in the SIAC.
 
Alaysia Nash scored a career-high 28 points to lead Benedict.
 
Lane took an early 10-point lead in the first quarter, 17-7, but the Lady Tigers were able to rally and tie the game at 17-17 heading into the second quarter. A tip-in by Nash cut the lead to 26-23 with 5:12 left in the second quarter, but Benedict closed out the quarter with five missed shots and four turnovers.
 
Lane scored the first five points of the third quarter to build the lead to 41-23. Benedict never got closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
 
The Lady Tigers will hit the road for a pair of games next week, traveling to Miles on Thursday and Tuskegee on Saturday. They return home to face Spring Hill on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
