JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Edward Waters hit three free throws in the final minute to cap off a fourth-quarter rally and defeat the Benedict College Lady Tigers 65-63 on Monday night in a SIAC women's basketball contest.
Benedict had as much as a 14-point lead in the third quarter, and had a 55-44 lead early in the fourth quarter before Edward Waters went on a 13-1 run to take their first lead of the game, 57-56, with 4:36 remaining in the game.

Alaysia Nash gave Benedict a 63-62 lead with 1:12 on the clock. Edward Waters regained the lead with two free throws with 55 seconds remaining. Benedict missed three field goals in the final 42 seconds, and Edward Waters (13-7 overall, 9-6 SIAC) sank an insurance free throw with three seconds left.
Benedict, now 7-14 overall and 5-10 in the SIAC, jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead, and led 14-12 at the end of the first quarter. Benedict held a 34-25 lead at the half.
Taylor Christmas had a double-double for the Lady Tigers, scoring 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
Benedict outshot Edward Waters 41.4 percent (24-of-58) to 37.7 percent (20-of-53), and held Edward Waters to just 1-of-14 shooting on 3-pointers. But Edward Waters had a big advantage at the free-throw line, going 24-of-33, while Benedict attempted just 15 free throws, and made six (40 percent).
The Lady Tigers return home to play Miles College on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
