Tigers Announce Football Signing Class

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict College head football coach Ron Dickerson Jr., has announced a signing class of 33 players for the 2025 season, which includes 11 transfers and a dozen high school players.

The Tigers brought in 11 mid-year transfers, who are already enrolled for the spring 2025 semester and participating in spring practice. In addition to the 12 high school signees, the Tigers already have commitments from 10 preferred walk-ons as well.

"We are thrilled with the talent and character that our 2025 signing class brings to Benedict College," Dickerson said. "These young men not only have the skills to compete at a high level, but they also embody the values we hold dear as a program—hard work, discipline, and academic excellence. I'm proud to see the culture we're building on and off the field, and I can't wait to see these players develop as both athletes and individuals. Benedict College football is poised for a bright future, with a strong foundation of recruits and transfers ready to contribute to the team's success both on the field and in the classroom.

The football program has made significant strides heading into the 2025 season, with Dickerson leading the way. After starting the 2024 spring semester with just 33 players, the Tigers now boast an impressive 103 players on the roster as of spring 2025.

The Tigers brought in two transfer quarterbacks, three defensive linemen, two offensive linemen, three defensive backs and a wide receiver. Defensive lineman Jaden Swiger from West Virginia Wesleyan recorded 52 tackles, eight tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks as a sophomore last season. Jaremiah Anglin Jr. was a four-star recruit out of Florida who originally signed with Kentucky and later transferred to Pitt.

From the high school ranks, the Tigers signed three defensive backs, two offensive linemen, two defensive linemen, two wide receivers, a quarterback, a tight end and a kicker. One wide receiver, Jordan Murphy, was named the Lake City Reporter Offensive Player of the Year after hauling in 56 receptions and set a pair of school records with 1,317 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns. On the defensive side, Keviyon Lamons from Eufaula, Ala., recorded 68 total tackles with 19 tackles for loss and seven sacks.

"This marks an exciting moment for the program, as we continue to build on their foundation with a blend of fresh talent and experienced players," Dickerson said.

The Tigers open the 2025 season on Aug. 30 against Fayetteville State.
