COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's basketball team wrapped up the regular season on Wednesday night, falling to Morehouse College 71-60 in a SIAC contest in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
 
Morehouse never trailed to wrap up the regular season at 17-12 overall and 14-7 in the SIAC. Benedict falls to 6-21 overall and 6-14 in the SIAC.
 
Cadarius Baggett scored a season-high 22 points, while also setting season highs in minutes played (39), 3-pointers made (3), 3-pointers attempted (8), free-throws made (7) and free-throws attempted (11).
 
Donte Whymns and Tony Webb Jr. added 12 points each.
 
Morehouse used a 13-0 run in the first half to build a 30-15 lead. Benedict was able to trim the lead to 37-28 at the half. Morehouse had a double-digit lead the entire second half, leading by as much as 23 points, 58-35, with 10:32 left to play. Benedict closed out the game with a 12-2 run.
 
Benedict awaits the official SIAC Championship Tournament seedings, but the Tigers will likely be the seventh seed from the East Division, and will travel to play the second seed from the West Division on Saturday. Tuskegee finished second in the West with a 13-13 overall record and 11-9 record in the SIAC. The first-round winners will advance to the tournament quarterfinals in Atlanta, Ga., March 5.
