WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Benedict College softball team opened the 2025 season on Saturday, dropping a non-conference doubleheader to Winston-Salem State in coach
Amari Lawson's coaching debut.
WSSU won the first game 2-0, scoring both runs in the sixth inning and holding Benedict to three hits.
Benedict had a 4-0 lead in the second game going into the bottom of the fourth inning, but Winston-Salem State scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game, then scored two runs in the fifth to take the lead and two more in the sixth.
T'yannah Lake had an RBI double and
Tre'sor Eady had an RBI triple in the first inning.
In the first game,
Heaven Strickland,
Megan Blanks and
Jaiara Ruffin all had one hit.
The Lady Tigers, now 0-2 on the season, are scheduled to play at Columbia College on Wednesday, with the doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
