COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's volleyball team hit .356, their second-best percentage of the season, to take a 3-0 victory over LeMoyne-Owen College on Saturday afternoon in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Benedict won the match 25-13, 25-17, 25-14 to improve to 6-7 overall and 2-4 in the SIAC. LeMoyne-Owen falls to 2-6 overall and 2-4 in the SIAC.
The Tigers committed just 10 attack errors on 73 total attacks, while registering 36 kills.
Zion Beckford led the Tigers with 10 kills.
Camron Petillo added eight kills.
Kendersley Marcellin had 25 assists, while
Cameron Long had a team-high nine digs.
The Tigers jumped out to an early 12-4 lead in the first set and cruised to the win, getting the set-winning point on a kill by
Roy Berry.
Benedict had a 13-4 lead and went on to take the second set, getting a kill from
Jomari Jacobs to clinch.
The Tigers used a 7-0 run to pull away from a 12-10 score in the third set. Benedict scored the final four points of the set, getting a kill from
Hakan Godoy and an error from LeMoyne-Owen to wrap up the match.
Benedict will take on Truett-McConnell at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the HRC Arena.
