SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State held Benedict to just two hits to take a 5-2 victory in the final game of their SIAC baseball series on Sunday.
After Savannah State scored a run in the first inning, Benedict tied the game in the third inning when
Nicholas Gioia reached on an error, stole second, and later scored on an RBI single by
Jamell Mitchell Jr.
Savannah State pulled ahead with two runs in the bottom of the third.
Benedict cut the lead to 3-2 with a run in the fourth inning.
Justin Murray reached on an error, stole second, and scored on another SSU error.
Gioia had Benedict's other hit, a two-out single in the sixth inning.
The Tigers host Albany State in a three-game SIAC series next weekend at Tiger Field. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon.
