FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Benedict College men's volleyball team advanced to the third-place game at the 2025 Cricket SIAC Men's Volleyball Championship on Tuesday by splitting their two matches.
Benedict opened tournament play with a 3-0 victory over Morehouse College by scores of 25-19, 28-26, 25-17.
Zion Beckford, named to the SIAC All-Conference team earlier in the day, led the Tigers with a career-high 17 kills and hit .500.
Camron Petillo and
Jared Brown added nine kills each.
Kendersley Marcellin had 36 assists.
Cameron Long led the defense with 13 digs.
That win put the Tigers in the semifinals Tuesday afternoon against top-seed Fort Valley State. The Wildcats, the defending conference champions, took a 3-0 victory to advance to Wednesday's championship game against Edward Waters, 25-19, 25-18, 25-16. Benedict was held to just 18 total kills, with
Jared Brown recording a team-high six kills. Marcellin had 15 digs and Long recorded seven digs.
Benedict will take on Central State at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the third-place contest. The Tigers and Marauders split their two regular-season meetings in Ohio.
