ATLANTA, Ga. – The Benedict College baseball team saw their winning streak extend to six games with a doubleheader sweep over Clark Atlanta on Saturday.
Brailin Duran pitching a complete-game two-hitter as Benedict won the first game 11-0. In the second game, the Tigers scored two runs in the top of the ninth to take a 4-2 victory.
Duran went seven innings, gave up two hits (both singles), walked one and struck out eight to improve to 4-0 on the mound. Offensively,
Juan Guardado hit a first-inning solo home run,
Isaiah Canty drove in two runs with a single and triple,
Jaquez Akins hit a triple and drove in a pair of runs, and
Justin Murray had an RBI single.
In the second game, the Tigers took a 2-0 lead after a groundout by
Elijah Banks and Akins stole home. Clark Atlanta tied the game with two runs in the fifth inning. In the ninth,
Jonathan Olmedo led off with a walk,
Jacob Hall reached on an error, then back-to-back singles by Canty and Akins brought home one run. A bases-loaded walk to
Kenyan Conner Jr. brought home Hall.
Benedict (15-9 overall, 13-9 SIAC) and Clark Atlanta (13-18, 8-15) will wrap up their SIAC series on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
