MACON, Ga. – The Benedict Tigers saw a 10-3 lead disappear as Savannah State staged a late comeback to take an 11-10 victory in the opening game of the 2025 Cricket SIAC Baseball Championship at Luther Williams Field.
Savannah State advances to the winner's bracket to face the winner between Edward Waters and Tuskegee. Benedict falls into the loser's bracket and will face the loser of that contest at 9 a.m. Friday.
Benedict had a 10-5 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Savannah State scored six runs in the seventh to take the lead, scoring the six runs on just two hits, two walks and four hit batters.
Isaiah Canty went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and scored a run to lead the Tigers at the plate.
Kenyan Conner Jr. went 2-for-4 and scored three times.
Jonathan Olmedo went 2-for-5, drove in a run and scored two runs.
