MACON, Ga. – The 2025 season came to an end for the Benedict College baseball team, as Spring Hill eliminated them from the 2025 Cricket SIAC Baseball Championship with an 11-4 victory on Saturday at Luther Williams Field.
The Tigers had a 3-1 lead after the first inning, and held a 3-2 lead going into the sixth inning. The Badgers took the lead with six runs in the bottom of the sixth, then added three more runs in the eighth inning.
Benedict concludes the season at 24-18, their best season since going 25-17 in 2017.
The Tigers opened the game by scoring on an error in the first inning, then
Jose Gil hit a two-out single to score two runs. In the sixth inning, the Badgers scored six runs on four hits, two walks and one Benedict error.
Benedict got a RBI single from
Jaquez Akins in the top of the eighth to cut the lead to 8-4. Spring Hill added three runs in the bottom of the eighth on two hits, two walks and two Benedict errors. Akins had two of Benedict's six hits in the game, going 2-for-3 with one RBI and one runs scored.
Spring Hill advances to play Edward Waters at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
