ALBANY, Ga. – The Benedict College women's volleyball team opened conference play with a pair of victories in the 2025 East Cluster SIAC Women's Volleyball Crossover Tournament on Thursday.
Benedict defeated Kentucky State 3-1 in the first match of the day, then defeated Central State 3-1.
After dropping the first set, the Lady Tigers rallied back to win the next three sets against Kentucky State, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-19. Benedict recorded 14 service aces.
Mia Burgess had 13 kills, while
Desire' Young and
Akili Jones had eight kills each.
Willow Alls had 24 assists and four service aces.
La'Jai Wilson had 13 digs.
The Lady Tigers defeated Central State 25-13, 25-13, 23-25. 25-13. Benedict recorded 10 service aces and nine blocks in the match. Burgess had 10 kills, and Young added eight kills and four assisted blocks. Alls had 18 assists, five service aces and 11 digs.
The Lady Tigers, now 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the SIAC, will wrap up the East Cluster Crossover Friday with matches against Lane at 11:30 a.m. and LeMoyne-Owen at 4:30 p.m.
