MOBILE, Ala. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers held Spring Hill to 30 percent shooting and held off a fourth-quarter charge to defeat the Badgers 69-59 in a SIAC women's basketball game on Thursday night.
Benedict had as mush as a 23-point lead in the third quarter, and had a 19-point lead, 58-39, with 8:08 left to play. Spring Hill cut the lead to eight, 64-56, with 1:22 remaining, but the Lady Tigers hit five free-throws in the final minute to seal the contest.
Benedict improves to 15-8 overall and 15-8 in the SIAC. Spring Hill falls to 8-18 overall and 6-17 in the SIAC.
Andrea Duncan led Benedict with 14 points, while
Ghylissa Knowles added 11 points.
Benedict held Spring Hill to 30 percent shooting (18-of-60), including 4-of-31 (12.9 percent) from 3-point range.
The Lady Tigers will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at Albany State for a 1 p.m. contest.
