COLUMBIA, S.C. – Miles College pulled away from a close contest in the second half to take a 58-51 victory over the Benedict College Tigers in a SIAC men's basketball game on Thursday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
In a low-scoring defensive battle, the game was tied at 35 midway through the second half. The Golden Bears went on to build a 45-38 lead with 6:05 left to play and held on for the victory.
Caleb Hymon hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 53-50 with 33 seconds left to play. Miles hit a free throw, and
Cristian Willis hit one free throw for the Tigers to make it 54-51 with 12 seconds left. Miles sealed the game with four free throws in the final 10 seconds.

Tareeq Anderson scored 10 points each to lead the Tigers, who fall to 8-9 overall and 8-9 in the SIAC. Miles improves to 15-5 overall and 13-5 in the SIAC.
Benedict is back in action on Saturday, hosting Tuskegee at 3 p.m.
