MEMPHIS, TENN. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers hit 13-of-18 shots in the fourth quarter to run away from LeMoyne-Owen College 83-55 in a SIAC women's basketball game on Monday night.
The Lady Tigers scored the final eight points of the first quarter to build a 13-point lead (23-10), and maintained a 15-point lead (38-23) at the half. After taking as much as a 19-point lead in the third quarter, LeMoyne-Owen cut the lead to 54-43 heading into the fourth quarter.
Benedict hit five of their first six shots in the fourth quarter to build a 64-47 lead, and increased the lead to as much as 30 points, 83-53, late in the quarter.
Alaysia Nash led the Lady Tigers with 18 points, and recorded five of Benedict's 11 steals.
Raven Johnson added 16 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Andrea Duncan added 11 points and
Christyonna Jackson scored 10 points.
Benedict forced LeMoyne-Owen into 27 turnovers and the Lady Tigers converted those into 27 points.
Benedict improves to 12-7 overall and 12-7 in the SIAC. LeMoyne-Owen falls to 2-16 overall and 2-16 in the SIAC.
The Lady Tigers will take on Lane College on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Eastern as they wrap up their makeup games from the earlier winter storms.
