COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers clamped down defensively on the visiting Paine College Lady Lions to take a 55-28 victory on Tuesday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.

Benedict held Paine to 22.6 percent shooting and forced 23 turnovers to take the victory. The Lady Tigers improved to 10-3 overall and 9-2 in the SIAC.

Santera Grooms led the Lady Tigers with 15 points. Bridget Williams added 10 points.

The Lady Tigers closed out the first half with a 12-2 run to take a 24-11 halftime lead.

A 15-2 run in the second half gave Benedict a 44-19 lead and Benedict kept a lead of more than 20 points the rest of the way.

Baiesha Johnson and BreAsia Burns led Paine with six points each. Paine fell to 3-13 overall and 3-9 in the SIAC.
