Trevor Eichelberger scored a season-high 21 points and
Rickie Jackson added a season-high 20 points as the 24th-ranked Benedict College Tigers cruised to an 83-60 victory over the Lane College Dragons in an SIAC men's basketball game on Saturday.
Eichelberger scored 17 of his 21 points in the first half, as the Tigers jumped out to a 24-4 lead just seven minutes into the game and never looked back.
Benedict improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the SIAC.
Jackson hit six 3-pointers as the Tigers hit a season-high 11 3-pointers.
Marcus Goode added 18 points and had a team-high 10 rebounds for the Tigers.
Benedict hit 56 percent of its shots (28-of-50), while holding the Dragons to 35.8 percent (24-of-67).
The Tigers took a 46-24 lead at the half after a dunk by
Tydran Beaty. A jumper by Goode early in the second half gave the Tigers a 52-26 lead, doubling up the Dragons. Benedict's biggest lead was 60-33 with 12:26 left in the game.
The closest the Dragons would get was 17 points, 71-54, but the Tigers outscored the Dragons 12-2 for an 83-56 lead with 1:21 left in the game.
Rafael Strayhorn led Lane with 15 points. Lane dropped to 0-8 overall and 0-6 in the SIAC.
Benedict continues its road trip with a contest at Kentucky State on Monday.
