Lady Tigers Earn Fourth Seed For SIAC Tournament

ATLANTA – The Benedict College women's basketball team will be the fourth seed for the 2012 SIAC Women's Basketball Tournament and earned a bye until Wednesday.

The Lady Tigers finished 15-7 in conference play, 18-8 overall, to finish in a third-place tie with Tuskegee. Benedict split the season series with Tuskegee. Both Benedict and Tuskegee lost both games to top seed Fort Valley State and second seed Stillman, but lost the tiebreaker by splitting the season series with fifth-seed Clark Atlanta, while Tuskegee swept its season series with Clark Atlanta.

The 2012 SIAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament begins Tuesday at Frank L. Forbes Arena on the campus of Morehouse College.

Benedict will play at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and will face the winner between No. 5 seed Clark Atlanta and No. 12 Lane. Benedict split with Clark Atlanta, but swept Lane.

The winner of that game will face the winner between top seed Fort Valley State and the winner between LeMoyne-Owen and Kentucky State at 6 p.m. on Friday.

The women's tournament championship game will be Saturday at 4 p.m.
