COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict Lady Tigers couldn't overcome a poor shooting night as the Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers took a 68-65 victory on Saturday in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.

Benedict shot 28.6 percent (8-of-28) from the floor in the first half and 37.5 percent for the game. The Lady Tigers also struggled from the free-throw line, making just 15 of 24 attempts.

The loss dropped Benedict to 12-6 overall and 10-5 in the SIAC. Clark Atlanta improved to 9-10 overall and 9-7 in the SIAC.

Alexus Jones and Santera Grooms had 13 points each to lead Benedict. Chelsey Peterson, in her first game, scored 11 points, while Monique Weathers added 10 points. Brittany Jackson had a team-high eight rebounds.

Conisha Hicks and Shovon Caldwell had 15 points each to lead Clark Atlanta. La'Quisha Lewis had a game-high 14 rebounds.

Benedict returns to action on Tuesday at home against Miles College.
