Marcus Goode had a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Benedict College Tigers to a 70-58 victory over Kentucky State on Saturday afternoon in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.
The Tigers won their fourth straight game to improve to 8-5 overall and 4-1 in the SIAC.
Tydran Beaty added 16 points and nine rebounds.
Xavier Collier chipped in 15 points.
The Tigers held Kentucky State, now 5-6 overall and 3-2 in the SIAC, to 34 percent shooting for the game.
The Tigers opened the game by scoring the first eight points and built the lead to 35-15 on a layup by
Brennan Reynard with 3:14 left in the first half. The Tigers took a 39-20 lead into the half.
A layup by Beaty gave the Tigers a 43-22 lead early in the second half, and the Tigers maintained a 20-plus lead for much of the second half. A jumper by
Cassius Bell gave the Tigers their biggest lead, 57-28, with 12:19 to play.
Quentin Henderson led the Thorobreds with 16 points.
Benedict is on the road Thursday, traveling to Tuskegee.
