Lady Tigers Surge Past Clark Atlanta, 59-41

ATLANTA – The Benedict College Lady Tigers scored 25 unanswered second-half points to rally past Clark Atlanta University and take a 59-41 victory on Monday night in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference basketball game.

Benedict trailed 30-23 at the half, and was behind 38-27 with 15:20 left to play, when the Lady Tigers clamped down defensively and held the Lady Panthers without a field goal for the rest of the game. Benedict scored 25 straight points to take a 52-38 lead. Atlanta finally ended the scoring drought with a free throw at the 3:35 mark.

Alexus Jones led the Lady Tigers with 14 points. Monique Weathers and Brittany Jackson each added 11 points. Benedict forced 26 Clark Atlanta turnovers and recorded 21 steals.

Benedict outscored Clark Atlanta 36-11 in the second half. Clark Atlanta shot just 29 percent for the game.

Benedict improved to 10-11 overall and 7-2 in the SIAC. Clark Atlanta fell to 9-9 overall and 5-3 in the SIAC.

Benedict returns home to face Paine College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
